The Future of the PFD: Options and Choices
Alaska Common Ground invites you to join us in person or online for a moderated panel discussion on the future of the Permanent Fund Dividend, a crucial piece of Alaska’s fiscal picture. As the state continues to grapple with long and short-term budgetary challenges, proposals for managing the PFD are often at the forefront of the conversations and legislative negotiations. This event will feature a brief presentation on the history and budgetary effects of the PFD, followed by a moderated panel exploring three different policy perspectives on the PFD’s structure and implementation going forward.
The panel will be moderated by Gunnar Knapp, Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Alaska Anchorage and the Institute of Social and Economic Research, and Tom Hewitt, Opinion Editor for the Anchorage Daily News. There will be time for audience questions.
